SMTP & Smart Mailboxes

If the future of both APIs and human interfaces is English, then good old SMTP email could make a huge come back.

Your email will have to be serviced by AI anyway, since the volume of bot outreach will become untenable, thus, if SMTP is doomed to become LLMs talking to each other, then it’s just a machine-machine API.

And in that case, a smart mailbox could be enhanced with commands and queries to make an intelligent gateway.

So, instead of setting up an HTTP server, one might furnish the account with a set of topics and tools as JSON, with webhooks.

It can copy-in other bots, too, and using forwarding to locate and route to the right AI. It’s decentralised bot collaboration!

Email already maintains a conversation in its batting to and fro the original message with headers.

It also has a strong and mature identity foundation, addresses sitting atop of the DNS system, various security protocols and encryption.
